  24. What do you mean by "EXCELLENT CONDITION"?

  25.

1.) What can you do for me?

We buy and sell USED industrial food processing machinery, and maintain a large on-site inventory of over 1,200 pieces of machinery. We have a large, modern setup and preparation facility with ten experienced full-time mechanics, to assure you of QUALITY in your used equipment purchase. If know what you need and are ready to buy, send us a list of those items you require and if we have what you need, we will quote you at a significant savings in lead time and investment versus new.

2.) Will Alard BUY my idle, surplus equipment?
If you have idle, surplus equipment taking up your valuable production and storage space, ALARD NEEDS TO BUY good used equipment for inventory, and/or may have someone actively looking for whatever it is you don't need anymore. See our "Alard Wants to Buy" page for more information!

3.) Why should I buy USED equipment?
Buying used equipment saves money and time. The investment required to purchase USED equipment is usually only a fraction of the cost of new, and while lead times to obtain new equipment often runs into several months, used equipment can be obtained immediately (for "as-is" items) or usually within a few weeks for restored equipment.

With proper maintenance and periodic restoration, most industrial machinery has a practically infinite useful lifetime. Some of the most popular machines we handle were originally manufactured in the 30s and 40s! A restored or good condition used machine is generally every bit as productive as a new machine costing twice as much or more.

4.) Does your web site show ALL the equipment you have available?
We use our web site to display selected items we have available in-stock or which may be available but not on-site. We have many, many more items in-stock and/or available to offer from other sources, so if you don't see the item you require, call or Email us with your inquiry!

5.) Where is this equipment?
Unlike "brokers" who may work out of their house or wheel and deal on the side from their "real" jobs, Alard Equipment Corporation actually has a committal investment in plant and inventory, with a 7 acre facility including six warehouses filled with equipment, and a large modern setup and preparation facility with ten full-time mechanics. The GREAT majority of the equipment items shown on our web site is located  at this facility in Williamson, NY; see our "How to Get Here" page for maps and directions.

Because we can't buy everything we find available, and/or some items are so specialized that we don't want to invest in them as stock, we also "broker" some items. That is, we "list" items that are available for sale elsewhere, and are not in our on-site inventory. A fraction of the items shown on our web site are these types of listings, and in these cases, we can usually either arrange to bring the equipment in for your inspection, or make a special appointment for you to inspect the equipment wherever it is.

6.) Can I inspect the equipment? Can I see it running?
We WANT you to SEE our equipment, so we display it that way! In addition to the high quality photographs and detailed descriptions we provide on our web site, we store our equipment in clean, orderly, brightly lit warehouses built specifically for this purpose, so you can get good, clear access to inspect it. With advance notice, we can usually bring a machine over to our shop and put power to it so that you can see it running. You WON'T have to crawl around in piles of junk crammed in truck trailers, or find you've wasted your trip because the equipment can barely be seen at the bottom of a pile in some dark dirty corner here!

We strongly encourage you to visit us personally to inspect the equipment you intend to buy, to tour our facilities, meet our people, and shop our huge on-site inventory. We do need reasonable advance notice of your visit to be able to assure we have the item(s) you want to see available and ready. Please contact your Alard Sales Representative to make an appointment!

7.) Can you send me a catalog?
Our best "catalog" is our web site where we show quality PICTURES and detailed descriptions of hundreds of equipment items we have available.

We also send out regular mailings and faxes listing items which have recently come in or which are otherwise currently featured. To receive these mailings, call, fax, or Email us with your company letterhead information (address, phone, fax, etc) and we'll add you to our list.

THE BEST WAY TO FIND THE EQUIPMENT YOU NEED quickly and efficiently is to CALL US at 315-589-4511 with your specific equipment inquiry. Tell us what you need to buy, and if we have what you need, we'll be pleased to quote you at a significant savings in investment and lead time versus new!

8.) Do you sell new equipment?
Sometimes we don't have the right item available used, so to better serve our customers we are dealers for NEW Cornell FOOD PUMPS, Customized CASE TAPERS, Packrite VOLUMETRIC FILLERS, Dito Dean CUTTERS and SPIN DRYERS, Kinex capping equipment, Hallde CUTTERS, and Feldmeier TANKS.

While we have a very active business in these new equipment items, the main focus and great majority of our activity is in USED equipment.

9.) Does Alard FINANCE equipment purchases?
NO. All our capital, is and must be dedicated to purchasing and inventorying good quality used equipment to offer YOU our valued customer. When you shop our web site or visit to shop our inventory, you don't want to see our accounts receivable, you want to see equipment!

While WE are not in the financing business, we do work with leasing companies and banks, so if you need to arrange leasing, we can recommend lease companies who are familiar with financing used food processing machinery, or we can work with the leasing company you have already have an established relationship with.

10.) If I have idle, surplus equipment, can I TRADE it toward productive equipment ALARD has?
If you have idle, surplus equipment taking up your valuable production and storage space, ALARD NEEDS TO BUY good used equipment for inventory, and/or may have someone actively looking for whatever it is you don't need anymore. Tell us what you have, and if it's something that we can use, we will propose a trade. See our "Alard Wants to Buy" page for more information!

11.) Do you sell restaurant equipment?
While we sometimes have a few small/low volume or "lab" items such as Hobart mixers, batch peelers, or countertop cutting machines that are commonly used in restaurants,  we are NOT in the restaurant equipment business per se. Our focus is in buying/selling "tons per hour" scale processing machinery for large volume food manufacturing such as canning, freezing, and "fresh-cut" vegetable packing plants.

12.) Could I get a better deal at an auction?
You will almost always find that you get a MUCH better value buying from a full service dealer like Alard, and will ALWAYS find that you do it at less risk. And, because we have equipment in-stock NOW, you don't have to wait and hope, or buy under pressure on the spot.

The fast talk, the multipage small-print-iron-clad-no-recourse contracts, the high-pressure rush-rush atmosphere, and the shifty last-minute changes in the offerings which characterize auctions are all time honed methods designed to hurry, confuse, intimidate, fool, and generally separate you from a quick buck.

When you deal with Alard you don't get the fast talk, the high-pressure, or the carnival atmosphere. You get a clear description of what you are buying, you get to inspect it at your convenience, and you can usually see it running (see Can I inspect it? above). If you purchase restored equipment from us, then you have our promise as to the condition. We even load it on the truck. The only promise you'll get at an auction is that you're responsible for everything, and they aren't responsible for ANYthing.

Most importantly, when you work with Alard, you have the confidence of dealing with a committed company that has been in this business for over 48 years, with a vital interest in building a long term relationship with YOU. We aren't packing up and moving on to another city every day of the week; --we have a major commitment in plant and inventory. We NEED to build ongoing relationships with good customers like you; who we can deal with again (and again).

13.)  What do you mean by "EXCELLENT CONDITION"?

When Alard says "Excellent Condition", we mean that we have test run and serviced the machine prior to shipment, to assure EXCELLENT mechanical and cosmetic condition. We can (and frequently do) also adjust the machine for a buyer's specific can, bottle, bag, cap, label, slice, dice, or case size, and/or otherwise adjust the machine for the buyer's particular application. Becuase every piece is diffrent, it's hard to desribe all the fine details of what we do when we refurbish, but if pictures are worth a thousand words, then our BEFORE & AFTER pictures should provide ample explanation; -see them HERE.
